LAYING OUT THE PIECES

The transition to High School can be a very difficult time. A new environment and everything that comes with it can be a load of stress. To minimize areas of confusion and error for upcoming freshman students, DCLC has a few areas of assistance:

  1. Virtual tour of the building

  2. An explanation of the Lunch Schedule

Lunch Block

The best part of the school day- lunch, a time where you can sit and chat with your friends. Each day there are four different blocks for lunch. The one you attend depends on what class you have during lunch block, period five. Getting the hang of it takes about two days, the diagram below shows a pattern that may be of assistance.

First Lunch: First Floor Classes

Second Lunch: Second Floor Classes

Third Lunch: Third Floor Classes

Fourth Lunch: Gym and Lab Classes (and the fourth-floor pool?)

The Auditorium Side of the Cafeteria serves Pizza and the Daily Special. The Gym side of the Cafeteria serves Pizza, the Salad Bar, and Chicken Patty Sandwiches.

Shepherd Hill

Shepherd Hill is a big step up from Middle School. A large school with many classrooms, all with few distinctions makes it difficult to navigate your way around early in the year. To ease this difficulty, there is a virtual tour of the building with various landmarks pointed out. Each floor is included.
