Football is one of the most admirable programs at Shepherd Hill with a rich history of triumph. In 2019, the varsity squad earned an 8-3 record and a spot in the Central Mass Division 3 title game against St. Johns. During the summer, the football team hits the weight room in the morning and starts scrimmages and official practices in August before the season kicks off in September.

Signups: The June before the start of the season

Boys and girls cross country have a rich history of success while embracing a welcoming culture. In 2019, the girls' team won their third consecutive Central Mass District Title and in 2016, the boys qualified for the state meet for the first time ever. During the summer, informal practices are held at the track, and everyone is encouraged to participate. The season kicks off in early September with the annual Martha's Vineyard Invitational.

Volleyball is another one of the elite programs at Shepherd Hill headed by Coach Nicole Smith. In 2019, the Hill graduated Ingrid Lindstrom, who went on to play volleyball at Franklin-Pierce University. In 2018, Lindstrom helped lead the team to a second-round appearance in the state tournament against Hopkinton. During the summer, captains' practices are held in the gym before tryouts in mid-August.

Soccer is a highly admired program at Shepherd Hill with high-caliber teams. On the girls side, both Maria Holland and Demi Teguis earned Midland-Wachusett All-Star honors, and they are looking to build on their success this coming season. In 2019, the boy's team orchestrated an outstanding turnaround season under new head coach, Mr. Cormier, and nearly missed a district birth. Players are often seen up at the fields practicing in the summer, and tryouts are held in mid-August.

Golf is a small, close-knit team that competes in the local fall scenery. In 2019, Dan Brooks, a Mid-Wach All-Star, helped lead his team to a birth in the district playoffs. Tryouts are held in the fall, and all are encouraged to participate. Practices are held at the Dudley Hill golf course, which resides right next to Shepherd Hill.

Cheerleading is another highly-competitive, high-spirited team, that runs through the fall and winter. In the fall, cheerleading supports the football team and participates in competitions. During the winter, the team rallies the basketball team and continues their competition season. Tryouts are held in August to determine who is on which team and there is a spot for everyone.

Field hockey is a highly enjoyable sport open to everyone at the Hill. In 2019, the team doubled their won total from the year before and continues to establish a rich culture. Tryouts are held in August, and they compete until November in the Mid-Wach League. Games are hosted at Shepherd Hill fields or at local high schools.

UNIFIED BASKETBALL

Teams: One Team

Signups: Beginning of the school year, usually in September. It will be announced with announcements.

Unified basketball is a program that continues to grow in popularity every year at the Hill. Unified basketball joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same basketball team. At Shepherd Hill, unified basketball is coordinated with the special education department, and any student can join the team. Throughout the season, the team plays a couple of games, including ones at Shepherd Hill that are packed! Recently, Shepherd Hill was recognized as a Unified Champions School, displaying our continued commitment to inclusion for everyone.
