If you want to feel part of a committee bigger than yourself, Shepherd Hill has many organizations open for students to self-advocate and pursue a greater good.
Dudley-Charlton Leadership Committee (DCLC)
DCLC (that's us!) contains a wide variety of students who are dedicated to pursuing the greater good on behalf of the students and district as a whole. Students in this club take a leadership position in listening to all students’ voices and executing ways to improve the student experience. Students of all grades are welcome to apply, and meetings are held monthly during lunch period.

Best Buddies & Friends on the Hill
Members of either Best Buddies or Friends on the Hill have the opportunity to grow closer with the students and staff in the STRIVES Department and participate in fun activities in and out of school. Students from any grade can join.

A Better Hill
A Better Hill is the first-ever social justice initiative of its kind at Shepherd Hill. Completely student-driven, separate from administrators, A Better Hill is comprised of allies who seek to foster a more inclusive and enlightened student-body and school ecosystem. A Better Hill pursues systemic culture change, from curriculum reform to painting murals.

Gender-Sexuality Alliance
All are welcome in GSA. This is a good place to find friends and a safe environment. Meetings take place after school and are a welcoming place for anyone seeking an ally. New members are welcome year-round.

Model United Nations
Shepherd Hill's Model UN runs mock simulations of sessions held by the UN in reality. Come after school to represent a foreign nation in a session about a global crisis and further your knowledge of current events. Meetings occur monthly, all grades and new members are welcome year round.

National Art Honor Society (NAHS)
Art students who excel in class can join NAHS. NAHS students create rewarding projects around the school and community and have more opportunities to showcase their skills. Students of all grades can join as long as you have passed on art class and meet GPA criteria. Meetings take place after school monthly.

National Honor Society (NHS)
Students with a high GPA and dedication to helping the community are eligible for admittance into Shepherd Hill's chapter of NHS. Students are role models of the district and participate in community service projects. Only grades 10-12 can be invited into the group after an application review. Meetings are after school.

Principal's Advisory Council
Students of all grades work with Principal Chaplin to voice the concerns and requests of Shepherd Hill students. Past changes made from this group of leaders include senior privileges and categorized gym classes. Students from all grades can apply to join. Meetings are during lunch periods.

Prom Committee
The junior class is in charge of planning junior/senior prom, a highly anticipated school event. Members of this committee decide all details of the dance. If you're a junior and want to join, get in touch with your class advisor and attend brief meetings after school.

Student Council is one of the most engaging boards of student leaders at Shepherd Hill. They run events like Mr. Shepherd Hill and pep rallies. StuCo really knows how to roll in the Shepherd Hill school pride. Students from any grades can join and attend meetings after school.

Game Change
Mentors in Violence Prevention (or Game Change) is a partnership with the New England Patriots and consists of a group of students who are taught by professionals on how to approach and discuss sensitive topics with peers. Game Changers lead conversations with freshman advisories on gender stereotypes, drug and alcohol use, and domestic violence. This program is invitation-only but contains members of all grades.

Tri-M Honor Society
Dedicated students in the music department make up Tri-M, an honor society strictly focusing on community service regarding music. All members volunteer all over the community and raise money in music related environments. Students from grades 10 through 12 can be admitted based on the quality of their application, their academic ability, and music involvement. Meetings are held after school.

School Council
Juniors and seniors have the ability to partake in the School Council, a council comprised of administrators, teachers, parents, and students. The School Council discusses pertinent events occurring at the high school level while soliciting feedback and community engagement during each meeting.
